Screw Conveyor

The screw conveyor is a common piece of equipment in the fertilizer industry used to transport powdered, granular, and small-lump materials. It utilizes rotating spiral blades to push material forward along a trough or pipe. It is widely used in organic and compound fertilizer production lines for transferring raw materials, semi-finished products, and finished goods. Featuring a simple structure and excellent sealing capabilities, it effectively prevents dust emissions and material spillage, making it an economical and practical solution for enclosed conveying and improving workshop environments.

Working Principle

Material enters the conveying trough or pipe through the inlet, and the rotating screw shaft drives the spiral blades. The blade surfaces push the material axially; driven by the thrust of the blades and the force of gravity, the material is continuously conveyed forward. Auxiliary functions such as mixing, stirring, or cooling can be performed simultaneously during the conveying process. Screw conveyors can be installed horizontally, inclined, or even vertically, with conveying capacity adjusted by varying the screw pitch and rotational speed.

Equipment Components

Screw Shaft and Blades: Spiral blades are welded onto the main shaft; blade types include solid (full-flight), ribbon, and paddle designs, selected based on material characteristics.

Conveying Trough: U-shaped or tubular trough made of steel plate, featuring a top cover and inlet/outlet ports at the bottom.

Hanging Bearings: Intermediate hanging bearings support the screw shaft within the trough during long-distance conveying to maintain axial alignment.

Drive System: A motor drives the screw shaft via a gearbox; rotational speed is adjustable.

Inlet and Outlet Ports: Flanged connection devices; slide gate valves can be installed to control flow rates.

Frame/Base: Welded structural steel assembly that supports the entire unit and allows for height adjustment.
