Chain compost turning machines complete fermentation through gentle pushing and low shearing, producing uniform, loose, and moderately moist composted material for subsequent processes. This material characteristic dictates that the matching granulator must adhere to the principle of “minimal material loss and tolerance for moisture.”
Disc granulators are suitable for conventional organic materials. This is the most widely used model paired with chain compost turners. The discs rotate on an inclined surface, causing the material to roll and agglomerate into spheres with minimal damage to the fiber structure. The uniformity of the chain compost turner’s output provides ideal granulation conditions for disc granulators, resulting in controllable, rounded granules with moderate investment costs and excellent cost-effectiveness.
Stirring tooth-drum granulators handle complex materials more effectively. When the raw material contains entanglement components such as straw fragments, filter mud, or medicinal residue, the stirring tooth-drum granulator is more reliable. It uses forced shearing and compression to force the material into granules through a die, offering better fiber tolerance than disc granulators. The chain compost turner pre-disperses and evenly mixes fibers, reducing the load on the agitator and resulting in more compact pellets.
The rotary drum granulator is suitable for large-scale production lines. For high-capacity requirements and formulas containing certain inorganic nutrients, the rotary drum granulator can be paired with the chain compost turner to leverage its high-throughput continuous discharge advantage, meeting the cycle time of large-scale production lines.
The key to seamless process integration lies in “instantaneous feeding.” After discharge from the chain compost turner, the material should be directly conveyed into the granulator hopper via a conveyor system to avoid moisture evaporation or clumping due to stockpiling, which is crucial for ensuring a high pelleting rate. For pure organic fertilizer production lines, disc granulators are preferred; for formulas containing fibers, agitators are preferred; and rotary drum granulators are a subsequent option for scaling up.
